WHITLEY COUNTY — Piling snow and bitter cold temperatures have slowed the process of many road projects slated for Whitley County.
Ruckman Road, which is in the process of bridge repair work, continues to be closed. The completion date is dependent on the weather.
“We had a timeline, but the weather hasn’t cooperated,” said Brandon Forrester, Whitley County engineer. “I don’t think anyone could have planned for a winter like this.”
Other work that is set to cause road closures include County Road 700 North at Loon Lake. A small culvert will be replaced, and that road will be closed for two weeks starting March 10 — depending on the weather.
County Road 650 East, between U.S. 33 and County Line Road, is set for bridge work beginning March 24. This road closure is planned to last two to three months.
