WHITLEY COUNTY — Relay for Life of Whitley County, a 24-hour walk-a-thon to raise funds and awareness for cancer research and patient services, has several fundraising events to support area teams working to generate money for their relay efforts.
All the money raised from fundraisers will go to the Whitley County relay event, slated for June 7 and 8 at Indian Springs Middle School, and will go to support local community members battling cancer.
• Monday, March 31 deadline — A pie sale will be held as a Relay for Life of Whitley County fundraiser. All orders are due Monday, March 31.
Pie choices include: sugar cream, pecan, peanut butter, German chocolate, pumpkin, pumpkin chess, and coconut sugar cream.
The cost is $5 per pie. All pies are 9 inches. Orders are due by March 31, money is due April 7 and pies must be picked up April 14.

• Tuesday, March 25 deadline — Pet owners can submit their pet as part of a cutest pet contest. Those wanting to participate should pick up an entry form at the Columbia City Walmart.
Completed forms and a photo should be turned into the Walmart Service Desk by March 25.
Shoppers and community members can visit the location to vote April 1 through 29.
All proceeds from the voting will benefit Whitley County’s Relay for Life and Humane Society.
Cutest baby contest
•Contest runs from April 1 to April 24 — Team Toostie Pops will be collecting photos of babies from newborns to three years of age from April 1 to April 24.
A penny will count toward a vote, and the baby with the most votes will win. Cans will be set up at various events until the relay, June 7 at Indian Springs Middle School.
Submissions can be mailed or dropped off to Heather Vandevender, 207 S. Main St. South Whitley, IN 46787.
The baby’s age and name should be designated on the back of the photo as well as if the photograph should be returned.
Prizes include photo sessions donated by Studio 13 and Eberly Photography.

It is not too late to put together a Relay for Life team. Team captain meetings are held to help leaders stay informed of event details as well as to have support in rallying team members and funds.
