All gardening and landscaping enthusiasts are invited to the second meeting of the newly formed South Whitley Area Garden Club Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the South Whitley Community Public Library.
Alice Nicodemus will share her tips for best preparing a vegetable garden for a bountiful, healthy, and delicious harvest. The group will also discuss and finish planning some upcoming field trips, including a container planting trip. All are welcome and encouraged to bring a friend. •Radio Club - 6 p.m.
The next meeting of the Whitley County Amateur Radio Club will be held Thursday, April 10 at the Peabody Public Library in Columbia City. The meeting will start 6 p.m. in the Lower Level Community Room A and will focus on linear versus switching power supplies. All general meetings are open to the public.

•GOP breakfast - 8:30 a.m.
The Whitley County Republican Party’s next breakfast is Saturday, April 12 and is open to the public.
The breakfast will start at 8:30 a.m. and is a candidate forum. The public will have a chance to meet the Republican Primary Candidates and ask questions in the three county wide contested races of District 83 State Representative, County Sheriff and County Prosecutor.
The breakfast will be held at Columbia City Church of the Nazarene (Fellowship Hall) for a free will donation

•War vets - 10 a.m.
The monthly meeting of the Korean War Veterans Association IN Chapter One will be held April 12 at the Eagles #248, 4940 Bluffton Rd. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served after the meeting. Friends and spouses are welcome to attend.
•Health fair - 7 a.m.
Parkview Whitley Hospital will present its annual Heartbeats Health Fair Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 7 to 10 a.m.
The health fair will take place in the Medical Plaza next to the hospital in Columbia City.
•Blood Chemistry 17 – Helps to assess the health of the major organs as well as cardiac risk factors. A 10- to 12-hour fast is recommended, but water is permitted. The cost is $18.

If a woman does not have insurance but is able to pay, the BDC offers a reduced rate if payment is made on the day of service. Funding is available for women who do not have insurance or resources to pay.
