COLUMBIA CITY — Two weeks ago, Park Director Mark Green informed Columbia City’s Common Council that part of the bank of Blue River collapsed into the water, creating a hazard for those on the greenway trail.
As Green worked toward a solution for the first collapse, another portion of the eroded bank fell into the river this weekend.
What is expected to be a pricey fix is also an emergency one, as the erosion has created safety concerns for those using the trail.
“Can we work on getting it fixed right away and discuss funding at the next meeting?” Clerk-Treasurer Rosie Coyle asked the Council Tuesday night.
The Council approved Coyle’s recommendation by unanimous vote, but questioned what measures can be taken to prevent more erosion in the future.
