A local ministry is providing a weekly hot meal at no cost to Whitley County residents.
The Forklift is operated by volunteers from The Warehouse, a church that meets at The Center For Whitley County Youth, in downtown Columbia City.
Each week, those who want to partake in a free meal are invited to The Center where food is served Mondays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Hank Workman, co-founder of The Forklift and lead pastor of The Warehouse, is motivated to serve the community. He called The Forklift a “hidden gem” in Whitley County.
“The very heart and soul of The Warehouse is to meet people where they are, with no judgment, but to love like Jesus, and let the Holy Spirit do the rest,” said Workman. “Our mission is driven toward the marginalized — those hard pressed in life, or, as Jesus refers to in Matthew 25:45, ‘The least of these.’”
