The 2010 Indiana high school football season has certainly been good to Columbia City quarterback Logan Rehrer.
School passing records have fallen. A Northeast Hoosier Conference championship has been captured and an appearance in the sectional championship awaits Friday night.
The QB at the top of all the Columbia City career passing records has another recognition to add to that list.
The magazine that dons the biggest athletes from around the world has taken notice of the season Rehrer is having in its latest issue out on shelves Monday.
Rehrer is featured as a part of SI’s “Faces in the Crowd” section which highlights achievements of high school and college athletes throughout the country since 1956.
The special section has named some of the greatest athletes of the last 50 years including Jack Nicklaus, Kareem Adbul Jabbar, Tony Dungy, Jackie Joyner Kersee, Steve Alford, and Tim Tebow to name a few.
Rehrer was nominated for the honor by members of the Columbia City community. His spot in SI specifically talks about the Eagle senior’s performance in the East Noble game on Oct. 1.
Then unranked Columbia City traveled to No. 9 East Noble in week seven of the regular season taking on the NHC’s top team.
After totaling 577 yards of offense including six touchdowns and a single game record of 458 yards passing, Rehrer lifted City over East Noble with a game-winning two-point conversion with 10 second left in the game.
As his first QB at CCHS, second-year head coach Randy Hudgins notes Rehrer is one of many players on his team that he’s glad to have.
“Logan typifies the caliber of the young men we are blessed to have in our program,” Hudgins said. “Hopefully it’s the first of many honors this season.”
