Paul L. Johnson, 73, of Albion, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 at Goshen General Hospital in Goshen, after being ill for the past five months.
He was born Jan. 15, 1938 in Noble County to the late Lyman and Edna (Firestone) Johnson. He was a lifetime resident of Noble County.
On Nov. 16, 1958 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Albion, he married Rhonda Tucker. She survives in Albion.
Mr. Johnson was a Corrections Officer for Chain O’ Lakes and retired from there after 17 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
He loved country music, enjoyed woodworking and spending his time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rhonda; two sons, Eric Johnson and Richard Johnson, both of Albion; four grandchildren, Corina Williams of Albion, Michelle Croft of Fort Wayne, Benjamin Johnson and Bob Johnson, both of Albion; two great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Billy Fisher of Ligonier.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Richard Johnson and sisters, Lucille Weeks, Barbara Johnson and Phyllis Wells.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Albion. Pastor Phyllis Smoots will officiate. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
