MARION — Carl Howard Henson, 82, of Marion, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born May 7, 1929, in Bona, Ark. to Lyman and Leona Henson.
He spent most of his lifetime in Marion, where he retired in 1993 from GM Fisher Body after more than 25 years of service.
He was a member of Marion Baptist Temple where he served as an usher for many years.
Mr. Henson also built two homes for he and his family, played the guitar and loved to put together puzzles.
He is survived by three daughters, Pat Henson, Columbia City, Kathy (Chris) Roberge, Carmel and Carol (Bruce) Webb, Crown Point; six grandchildren, Melissa (Erik) Fearnow, Columbia City, Andy (Anne) Smith, Greenfield, Lisa Smith, Pittsboro, Joshua (Sheryl) Webb, Philippines, Jason (Flower) Webb, Hammond and Cara Roberge, Carmel; 10 great grandchildren, Austin and Blake Fearnow, Rachel, Daniel and Amanda Webb, Abigail, Esther, Elisabeth and Adam Webb and Aaron Smith; one brother Bob Lane, Missouri; best friend, Ruth Sauers, Columbia City and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Sam, Charles and Billie Henson and two sisters, Ermadale Coward and Rosie May Henson.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with the funeral service following at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pastor Johnny McCallister of the First Church of God will officiate.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Bona, Ark.
