CHICAGO — Fifth-year senior Leah Eber earned the Big Ten Co-Field Athlete of the Week after her performance at the Gene Edmonds Cup against Indiana State over the weekend.
Eber won all three events in which she was entered and helped Purdue retain the cup for the 17th consecutive year. Eber started the day off by winning the long jump. She posted a mark of 6.25m, the second longest of her career and a meet record.
That mark also currently ranks second in the nation trailing the leader by just .04m. Following the long jump, Eber entered the triple jump where she leapt a distance of 12.10m to earn another victory.
“Leah was right on (at the meet),” Warner said after the competition Saturday. “She had one of the leading jumps in the country in the long jump. She then came back and won the dash. I just put her in it last night because I felt like the meet would be so close and we would need the extra points. Luckily it was a good move on my part.”
Eber and the Boilermakers return to action this weekend as they travel to Bloomington, Ind., to take part in the two day Hoosier Indoor Invitational.
