COLUMBIA CITY — There was some serious fun during a fundraiser at Columbia City High School Friday night. Ryan Romanowski was crowned 2012 Mr. CCHS and appeared to enjoy the title.
Romanowski was among a dozen CCHS students competing for the crown and sash during the event that raised funds for Eagle Renaissance (ER). ER works to create and sustain and environment where academic achievement is expected, nurtured and celebrated through reinforcement, recognition and reward. In it’s second year at CCHS, the 12 contestants ran down the aisles of the auditorium when they were announced by popular teacher Missy Gregg.
With Gregg’s dry sense of humor and looks like a Hollywood movie star, she introduced all of the contestants bringing laughter and smiles to the near capacity-filled auditorium. The men competed in categories including fitness where they performed football warm-ups and joked around some doing poses such as “Mr. Olympia” and “The Bolt”. Isaiah Kreider won the fitness category, which was worth 15 percent of the total score.
Overall winners were Alex Fritz coming in third place; Grant Armstrong in second and Romanowski winning the title. As he took his victory lap the crowd stood and cheered including his parents Ron and Paula and his brother Eric.
