COLUMBIA CITY — At last month’s meeting of the Whitley County Plan Commission, President Brandon Forrester stated very matter-of-factly regarding the ongoing wind issue, “Our recommendation to the commissioners will not make everyone happy; there is no way to do that with a topic of this magnitude.”
Tonight, both happy and unhappy parties alike will get an opportunity to speak their mind at the public hearing being held during the commission’s meeting, set for a special time and place of 6 p.m. at the 4-H Center.
The issue – which is an ordinance change rather than an approval for or against wind farms — has been a nearly two year ongoing project.
In that time, a wind committee was formed for fact-finding, research and reporting from both sides to the commission.
Through discussions, drafts of the ordinance revision were formulated and re-formulated.
Whichever way the wind blows on the decision for an ordinance change, the public will certainly get its chance to voice its opinion.
