Mary Lou Lowery, 69, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:54 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at her home.
Born March 24, 1943, in Huntington, she was the daughter of Dale E. and Maragaret F. (Veilahauer) Shivley.
She was raised in Huntington, graduating from Huntington Township School with the class of 1962 and from the Fort Wayne School of Cosmetology.
On Nov. 23, 1973, she married E. Allen Lowery in Dillon, S.C.
In 1979, she and her family moved to Whitley County. She has worked as a cosmetologist since 1984; a waitress at various local restaurants; a hairstylist for Renaissance Village Nursing Home, Fort Wayne; and she also was a seamstress.
She was a member of Laud Christian Church and Columbia City American Legion Auxiliary Post #98.
Survivors include her husband, E. Allen Lowery of Columbia City; son, Jeffery E. Dyke of Andrews; daughter, Jenny E. Hewitt of Waterloo; sister, Helen A. (Donald) Trout of Fort Wayne; brother, Jim E. (Mary) Shivley of Morehead, Ky.; step-mother, Virginia Shivley of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Jessica (Steve) McCutheon of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jason E. “Jake” Lowery and sister, Gail J. Shivley.
To honor Mrs. Lowery’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Cemetery, Huntington County.
