LIGONIER — Columbia City’s baseball team came away with the sweep over West Noble High School in a double-header on Saturday in Ligonier. The Eagles won the first game 13-2, then took the second 10-8.
Columbia City’s record is now 7-2.
In the early game, the Eagles scored 13 runs on 15 hits with one error, and the Chargers had two runs on two hits with two errors.
Pitcher Connor Slavich and third baseman Jordan Bickle hit two doubles apiece, while right fielder Landon Rehrer hit a double of his own.
Columbia City took the lead early when they scored four runs in the first inning. The Eagles would later add two runs in the fourth frame, then two more in the sixth.
Up 8-2 after six innings, the Eagles didn’t go up by ten until the seventh, when they scored five runs to make the score 13-2, which would prove to be the final.
Columbia City won the second game of the day 10-8. The Eagles had 11 hits and four errors, while the Chargers had 11 hits and no errors.
Rehrer, shortstop Brandon Gay, catcher Derek Lamle and center fielder Jacob Johnson all had two doubles each.
The Eagles are back in action today at Columbia City for a 5 p.m. contest with Manchester.
