CHURUBUSCO — The silver is polished, Prince Charming’s castle is sparkling and the glass slippers are ready to be placed on Cinderella’s tiny feet.
The Churubusco Junior Senior High School’s fine arts department present Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
This enchanting musical has 15 cast members and an orchestra. Each have practiced for months for this special event.
Playing the title role is Maranda Partin and playing Prince Charming is Cullen Fisher.
The musical is directed by Elizabeth K. Piercy.
“The entire cast has been working non-stop for this. It’s really exciting to be performing a classic,” said Piercy.
Other cast members and the parts they are playing are Jacob McClure, King; Caitie Eakins, Queen; Alana Miller, Godmother; Brein Gross, kid sister; Alexis Bultemeier, Sloppy Girl; Taylor Fry, Bad Girl; Abby Richards, Studious Girl; Donovan Geiger, Chef; Brandon Geopfrich, Steward; Skyler Chambless, Little Boy and Cheyenne Conner, Curtain Girl.
Originally created for television in 1957, its broadcast (starring Julie Andrews) was seen by 100 million viewers and has since been adapted for the stage.
Cinderella features the musical compositions and lyrics of the award-winning duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, who have produced numerous classic and timeless musicals.
The orchestra is directed by Mark Cheshier and features professional musicians. Musical highlights include “In My Own Little Corner,” “A Lovely Night,” “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?” and “Impossible.”
This timeless rags-to-riches story hopes to charm it’s way into hearts and remind everyone that dreams really do come true.
