COLUMBIA CITY —Columbia City’s softball team won three games over the weekend, defeating North Side in both games of a double header Saturday and Central Noble Friday night.
The Lady Eagles pummeled the Lady Redskins, winning with lopsided, 15-0 and 10-0 scores.
In Saturday’s first game, Columbia City scored 14 runs in the first inning, and held North Side to one hit and no runs.
Kaylee Parks led the Lady Eagles offensively, with 3-for-4 batting, including a home run, a double and three runs. Megan Giffin was 2-for-4 with two runs.
Cassie Vodde was awarded her 13th win in the first game with 11 strike-outs, no errors, no runs and gave up just one hit in four innings. Kristen VanHouten pitched the final inning with three strike-outs.
The Lady Eagles tallied 18 hits against the Lady Redskins.
Columbia City won the second game 10-0 after five innings.
Allie Vodde was 2-for-3 from the plate, including a triple.
The Lady Eagles also honored their seniors Saturday. Columbia City’s seniors are: Cassie Vodde, Megan Giffin and Kaylee Parks.
The Lady Eagles’ game at Central Noble wasn’t won as easily.
Columbia City got a run in the top of the first inning, but Central Noble responded with two runs of its own.
After scoreless second and third innings, the Lady Cougars scored again to give the Lady Eagles a 3-1 deficit. Columbia City scored a run in the fifth and sixth frames to tie the score.
Neither team was able to take the win in the seventh. Alyssa Hansen knocked in a run in the eighth inning to win the game, 4-3.
