Marjorie Leedy Magner, 85, of Columbia City, died at 12:13 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012, at her home.
Born on Nov. 28, 1926, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of John Franklin and Blanche Hermena (Hunnicutt) Julian.
She was born and raised in Whitley County before moving to Ohio for a few years as a young girl. She attended Etna Troy Township grade school and graduated from Larwill High School with the class of 1944.
Her first marriage was to Ira Allen Leedy and her second marriage was to Albert E. Magner.
She first worked as a janitor at Etna-Troy School in Whitley County. She then worked as a supervisor in the housekeeping and laundry departments at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne before retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Columbia City and former member of the Eastern Star in Avilla.
Surviving relatives include her two daughters, Stella (Richard) Burns of Spring Lake, Mich. and Edna Leedy of Albion; four grandchildren, Tina Gray of Austin, Texas, Holly (Jerry) Cumberland of Warsaw, Ira Marhanka of Albion and Ian Marhanka of Fort Wayne; one great-grandchild, Savannah Sano of Florida; one brother, Robert Julian of Florida and one sister, Dorothy Rock of Hesmer, La. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ira Allen Leedy; her second husband, Albert Magner; three brothers, Lester, Donald and John Julian and one sister, Thelma Downing.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
The funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Sharon Brockhaus, Certified Funeral Celebrant officiating. The burial will follow at South Whitley Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Magner’s memory to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
