SOUTH WHITLEY — A Whitley County official was arrested Monday afternoon on official misconduct and battery charges.
Roland "Ron" King, 74, of South Whitley, Cleveland Township Trustee, is charged with three felonies and three misdemeanors after a one-month long investigation.
According to Indiana State Police Detective Kevin Smith, a complaint was made to the South Whitley Police Department alleging that King inappropriately touched three women at the Cleveland Township Trustee’s office.
The misconduct allegedly occurred between June 10, 2011 and June 11, 2012.
The elected official maintains his office at his residence on Whitley Road near South Whitley.
Smith began his investigation in late June, along with the South Whitley Police Department and the Whitley County Prosecutors Office.
King was booked into the Whitley County Jail, where he was released Monday on a $40,500 bond.
He was charged with three counts of official misconduct, Class D felonies and three counts of battery, Class B misdemeanors.
Each felony count carries a maximum three-year sentence and each misdemeanor count carries a maximum sentence of 180 days, giving the potential for more than a 10-year sentence.
