CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s tennis team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday night, against Northeast Corner Conference foe Central Noble.
The Eagles won 3-2 in Churubusco, with victories in both doubles matches and No. 3 singles.
The No. 1 doubles team of Brandon Wormcastle and Landon Person won 6-1, 6-0 over Cougars Jared Estep and Devon Barr. Andrew Biddle and Brian Murphy of the No. 2 doubles team defeated Central Noble’s Colton Conrad and Caleb Harlan in a match that went to three sets.
’Busco won the first set, 6-4, and lost the second 6-1. The Eagles came back to win a close third set, 7-5. Churubusco’s Landon Lillmars won the No. 3 singles match, 6-0, 6-2 over Matt Paul of Central Noble.
Luke Lillmars lost a close No. 1 singles match. After losing the first set 6-3, he won the second 6-1, but lost the final set 6-1. Cody Luttman, No. 2 singles, was defeated 6-2, 6-3 but Cougar Kaleb Luce.
The Eagles look to pick up another win Thursday night, hosting NECC’s Prairie Heights.
