Robert J. “Bob” Miller, 87, formerly of Huntington now Rotonda West, Fla., died Aug. 31, 2012.
He was born on April 12, 1925 in South Whitley, the son of Ellis J. Miller and Sarah (Walpole) Miller. Mr. Miller married Jean R. (Schlosser) Miller on June 8, 1947, in Garrett. She preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother William (Bill) Miller.
Mr. Miller graduated from South Whitley High School in 1943. He served his country during World War II flying 33 combat missions as a bombardier on a B17 Flying Fortress with the 8th Air Force, 94th Bomb Group, 410th Squadron based in England. He was awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster for meritorious achievement.
Bob and his wife Jean owned Bob Miller Pharmacy in Huntington for 30 years before retiring to Florida where he continued to work part-time as a pharmacist until March 2011.
Survivors include his companion, Carol McCormack of Rotunda West, Fla.; one daughter, Deborah J Miller of Indianapolis; three sons, Robert J (Debra) of Huntington, Jeffrey P. of Philadelphia, Pa. and Scott A. (Deborah) of Huntington; one brother, Max Miller (Carole) of Summerfield, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held this morning at Trinity United Methodist Church, Huntington, with Rev. Robert Land officiating.
