COLUMBIA CITY — After holding two public forums and opening up an online survey concerning the Burnworth Memorial Pool, Mayor Ryan Daniel said the preliminary responses are leaning toward a new aquatics facility.
“We have 249 responses, which I think is a pretty good response rate up to this point,” said Daniel. “We have until Oct. 6, that’s the last day that we are accepting those responses so I’ll close it at that point.”
An assessment on the pool estimated over $1.1 million dollars in repairs to the pool facility.
Daniel told the Columbia City Common Council Tuesday that he would let them know final results and where the public officially stands based on those responses by the council’s next meeting Oct. 9.
With the public’s responses leaning toward a new aquatics facility, Daniel said there are many people who believe it should be paid for with a bond.
“With that being said, there is still time for responses,” said Daniel.

Paper surveys are available at the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office in City Hall or at the Park Office at Morsches Park.
