Lynn E. Kissinger 76, of Columbia City, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at his residence. He was born on May 13, 1936, in Fort Wayne, the son of Walter Olin and Viola May (Solt) Kissinger.
He spent his childhood in Fort Wayne, graduating from South Side High School with the class 1954. He then earned an Associates Degree at Purdue University.
He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 17, 1958, and was discharged on Oct. 12, 1960. He was a postal clerk with the United States Postal Service in Fort Wayne for 38 years.
In 1971, he and his family moved to the Kissinger family farm in Columbia City. He was a former member of Waynedale Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judith L. Kissinger of Columbia City; five children, Phil Kissinger of Columbia City, Jeff (Lisa) Kissinger of Columbia City, Cindy (Jim) Cormany of Columbia City, Brad (Teresa) Kissinger of Kimmell and Doug (Chris) Kissinger of Larwill; six grandchildren, Josh (Kim) Kissinger, Audra (Eli) Stangland, Tyler and Seth Kissinger, Bailey Kissinger, Jacob Cormany and Chasidy Kissinger and three stepgrandchildren, Vincent Longacre and John and Kayla Leininger. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jackie Owen Kissinger.
Private family funeral services will be held Tuesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home with Pastor David Arnold officiating. The committal service and burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial bequest may be given in Mr. Kissinger’s memory to the Columbia City United Methodist Church Building Fund.
