COLUMBIA CITY — Due to the extensive damage caused to an entire wing of Columbia City High School back in June of 2010, the Whitley County Consolidated School board has begun discussion on the possibility of installing a storm sewer on the north side of the property.
“The construction estimate we have for this is just under $306,000,” said Anthony Zickgraf, WCCS board member.
With recent funding cuts, Zickgraf said the money for the project is not in the Capitol Projects fund.
“The city had at one point offered to help with a small portion of the project,” said Zickgraf.
With the uncertainty of another flood looming in the future, board members expressed their wish to have a finalization on where the city stands as far as whether they would still provide support for the project before making any further decisions.
