David Isaac McCullough, 74, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:07 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Born July 3, 1938, in Churubusco, he was the son of John Thomas and Marion Etta (Rosenogle) McCullough.
He graduated from Churubusco High School with the class of 1956 and earned an Associate’s Degree from Indiana Technology.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until he was honorably discharged in 1959.
On Jan. 16, 1960, he married Barbara J. Buckles at Faith Baptist Church. Raised in Churubusco, he lived in Fort Wayne for one year. Since 1964, he and his wife have resided in Columbia City. A former employee of J.I. Case, Churubusco, he worked at International Harvester from 1960-2000. He was a certified Master Gardener and loved to play euchre.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara J. McCullough of Columbia City; three sons, Chad A. (Christina) McCullough of Woodbridge, Va., Craig A. (Angela) McCullough and Clay A. (Taren) McCullough both of Columbia City; two sisters, Virginia Bair of Ligonier and Ellen Crabill of Churubusco; brother, Thomas “Gene” (Judy) McCullough of Albion; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy McCullough and Max McCullough; two sisters, Geraldine Weeks and Betty Phillips.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 and 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Graveside military honors by the Whitley Country Korean War Veterans Honor Guard and burial will follow at Stringtown Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. McCullough’s memory to Master Gardeners. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
