COLUMBIA CITY — The Whitley County Commissioners appointed Brad Wolfe to fill the vacant spot on the Whitley County Planning Commission at the board’s meeting in Churubusco Monday.
Executive Director of Planning and Building David Sewell, presented the board with seven applications for the vacant position at the commissioner’s last regular meeting Oct. 1.
At the meeting Monday, County Commissioner Don Amber said the applicants were all qualified, and he was pleased to see so many people interested in the county position.
“I’m just happy to see so many qualified people,” said Amber.
During the meeting, the commissioners noted that many of the applicants were in the real estate business, and while they respected the work, they did not want a conflict of interest to arise.
“I don’t want to do that if there is a conflict of interest,” said County Commissioner Tom Rethlake.
After narrowing the field down to three applicants, the commissioners decided to appoint Brad Wolfe to the Plan Commission.
