Karen Marie Dafforn, 67, a resident of rural Churubusco and wife of Donald W. Dafforn, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at the Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne. She had been in declining health since May.
Mrs. Dafforn was born Jan. 25, 1945, in Smith Township, the daughter of Luther “Bus” and Vera E. (Brown) Duncan. She spent her formative years there, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1963.
Employed as a special needs school bus driver for Smith-Green Community Schools for 29 years, she retired from there in 2008.
She was a member of the Fellowship of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, and in her leisure time enjoyed yard work, her flower gardens, bird feeding, NASCAR, and supporting her husband in tractor and truck-pulling competitions. Most especially, she loved and cherished her family.
On Aug. 17, 1980, she was married in Allen County to Donald W. Dafforn. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Tammy (David) Karr of LaOtto, Trinna (Ty) Keener of Churubusco, Kim (Fred) Yagodinski of Monroeville, Tim (Susie) Frazier of Fort Wayne, and Kris (Brad) Gemme of East Bradenton, Fla.; her brother, David “Blaine” Duncan of Camden, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren, Dustin (Nikki), Tristan (Chelsea), Austin, and Kaitlin Karr; Bailey, Jacey, and Garrett Keener; Katie, Nick, and Emily Yagodinski; Sarah, Claire, and Amelia Frazier; and Madilyn and Chelsea Gemme; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Frazier on Dec. 25, 1988.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Larry Smith, pastor of the Fellowship of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m., or one hour prior to the service Saturday morning.
Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
