DOWNTOWN LIGHTS UP: 'Busco community members gather for holiday event

CHURUBUSCO — The town of Churubusco gathered together at the corner of U.S. 33 and Ind. 205 to watch the town’s Christmas tree light up.

Clerk-Treasurer Madalyn Sade-Bartl organized the affair to promote holiday togetherness for the town.

“We are hoping to make this an annual event,” said Sade-Bartl. “We needed something here to kick off the holiday season. I think this works out just fine.”

Santa made his entrance on a fire truck complete with flashing lights.
Zane Sade, a Churubusco High School graduate, serenaded the crowd with a Christmas carol.

Among the lights and sounds, baked goods and hot chocolate were served to raise money for the Churubusco Parks Department.

Town officials are working on a plan to revitalize the downtown area.
With renovations and enhancements to downtown, Sade-Bartl looks for the lighting event to grow in popularity.
