MILFORD — A 15-year-old Milford youth is in custody at a Pierceton juvenile facility after striking two squad cars Saturday evening with a skid-loader.
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police responded Saturday night at 8:40 p.m. to the area of County Road 250 West and County Road 900 North in regards to a juvenile that was out of control.
Officers arrived and met with parents of the 15-year-old juvenile who explained that their son had fled the residence in a farm implement skid-loader, crossing into an adjacent field.
The parents stated their son had become agitated earlier in the evening and subsequently locked the mother from the residence.
He had then taken a baseball bat and machete from the residence before fleeing in the skid-loader.
The father provided officers with a four-wheel drive ATV to use in an attempt to apprehend his son.
As the deputy and trooper approached the skid-loader, the juvenile suddenly turned the machinery around and then rammed the ATV with the front pallet fork attachment, completely disabling the ATV.
The juvenile backed out of the field approaching marked squad cars on County Road 300 West.
The juvenile spun the skid-loader, consecutively striking the front of both a Milford Police Department and a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department squad car.
Officers attempted to contain the juvenile for approximately an hour until the juvenile was pepper sprayed and later surrendered to officers.
Kosciusko County officers transported the juvenile to the Pierceton Woods Juvenile Detention Center, Pierceton.
Officers are currently forwarding potential juvenile charges of two counts of aggravated battery with substantial risk of death or injury to the Kosciusko County Probation Department.
