NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) — A man opened fire Friday inside the Sandy Hook Elementary where his mother taught. Twenty-six people were killed, including 20 children. Area media report youngsters huddled in corners and closets frightened at the sound of shots ringing through the building.
The 20-year-old killer, killed his mother at home, carried two handguns to the school where he committed suicide, bringing the death toll to 28, authorities said.
