COLUMBIA CITY — Recent facility improvements at the Whitley County Jail are now complete.
Showers at the jail were recently sealed with an epoxy to prevent leaks. The water had begun to be a problem at the facility.
“It has prevented the leaks from going down under the hallway floors or down to the basement,” said Whitley County Sheriff Mark Hodges. “When water leaks it has to go somewhere. We had water going into the basement from the showers.”
Throughout the years the showers had been routinely painted. Eventually, though, the paint was not sealing the cracks in the floor.
Another addition to the showers is a new floor, which has a slip-resistant surface.
