Carl W DeYoung, 84, formerly of Corunna, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at his home in Waterloo.
He was born Feb. 11, 1929, in Crystal, Mich. His parents were George and Dorothy (Doyle) DeYoung and he was raised by William and Pearl Thompson.
Carl was a graduate of Ashley High School, a U.S. Army Reservist, former Waterloo Volunteer Fireman and a member of Corunna Church of Christ. He loved to golf, bowl, fish and was a big IU basketball fan.
He worked for Indiana Decorative, Charleston Metal and Kitchen Quip of Waterloo before retiring in 1979.
He married Janice Musser June 21, 1952, in Butler and she died Jan. 14, 2010.
Surviving are five daughters, Cathy (Dan) Zimmerman of LaGrange, Roxanne (Roger) Knight of Columbia City, Jennifer (Michael) Wilcox of Angola, Terrie (Michael) Mills of St. Joe and Christi Rosa (Gary Cossart) of Fremont; a son, Kim (Deloris) DeYoung of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty Robertson of Taft, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two grandsons, Jason Snook and Andy Kintzel; a granddaughter, Shawn Marie Shipe; a great-grandson, Corey Anglin and a brother, George DeYoung.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with Todd Steere officiating. The burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Corunna. Calling is Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
