COLUMBIA CITY — A throwback to a different era will be marking its conclusion Saturday.
Hammond Oil, located in Columbia City on North Line Street, will be closing its doors Saturday, March 30. What makes Hammond Oil unique is that it is a full-service gas station. This distinct offering will be missed by many in the community.
“People are asking me, ‘what are we going to do?,’” said Randy Wood, assistant manager.
Wood said there are many handicapped individuals who regularly frequent the business. There are some elderly women who come to the station as well.
“Some of these women have never pumped gas in their lives,” Wood said.
Hammond Oil is the only full-service station in Columbia City. It will be missed by elderly and handicapped patrons, as well as customers from younger generations.
