COLUMBIA CITY — The Columbia City Board of Works and Public Safety heard bids on the city’s solid waste collection Tuesday.
The city received bids from five companies. The board took the bids under advisement and said a decision will be made at a later date.
In other business the board of works approved the purchase of $39,815.45 in GIS mapping software equipment.
The purchase was proposed by Brad Smith and Community Development Director Jeff Walker. Such mapping would be useful for all of the utilities in the city. It would provide a database and a central clearing-house for information instead of relying on the knowledge of people who could retire or otherwise leave the service of the city.
