COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City man arrested for allegedly committing burglary and theft at a local church had his bond reduction request denied at Whitley County Circuit Court Monday.
Cody Miller, 21, was arrested in February for allegedly stealing and committing burglary at St. Paul of the Cross in Columbia City. He was in court requesting a bond reduction. Currently his bond is at $50,000, which would require at $5,000 payment to release him.
Miller’s mother, Barbra Rasmussen testifed saying she did not have the $5,000 for her son’s bond. Her wish was to have Miller out and looking for work.
When asked where Miller would reside, Rasmussen said he would either stay in a house of hers in South Whitley or with his grandma in Warsaw.
When questioned by Whitley County Prosecutor Matt Rentschler, Rasmussen said Miller was staying with her when the alleged crime occurred. Rentschler said Miller has a previous criminal history.
