'CATS DROPPED: Tippy Valley beats Whitko, 70-49

MENTONE — The Whitko Wildcat boys’ basketball team opened Three Rivers Conference play Friday night when they went on the road to Tippecanoe Valley to face former Head Coach Bill Patrick and The Vikings.
The Wildcats’ search for their first win continues as the Vikings hung a 70-49 loss on the Wildcats.
The loss keeps the Wildcats winless on the season, dropping their overall record to 0-6 and 0-1 in the TRC.
The Vikings evened their record at 3-3 and are 1-0 in conference play.

'BUSCO WINS: Forman leads CHS to 56-41 conference victory

CHURUBUSCO -— Every basketball team in the state of Indiana starts out with the same goal: to win a conference title.

The Churubusco Eagles used a heavy dose of Paul Forman and their trademark stingy defense to take another step towards that goal Friday night. Forman put up 28 points and the defense held Prairie Heights to 12 points in the first half.

That was all the Eagles needed to earn their third North East Corner Conference win of the season by knocking off the Prairie Heights Panthers, 56-41.

CCHS SLAMS EAST NOBLE: Eagles win home tilt, 47-30

COLUMBIA CITY — In a game where both teams are playing a patient, passing offense each possession is at a premium.
Columbia City’s boys’ basketball team made the most of their possessions, gradually extending their lead until they were able to distance themselves from the visiting East Noble Knights for a 47-30 Northeast Hoosier Conference win Friday night.
The Eagles controlled the first six minutes of the game, running out to a 9-0 lead behind balanced scoring led by four points from Brachen Hazen, a three pointer from senior Mason Coverstone and a basket from Matt Benedict.

MAD ANTS: Wright recognized

Columbia City High School Lady Eagle Aubrey Wright, a senior, was recognized at last Saturday’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants game as “Mad Ants / McDonald’s Girls Player of the Month” for November. Pictured, from left, are Garrett Martz, vice president of sales and marketing for the Mad Ants, Aubrey Wright and The Mad Ant. Her family, coaches, teammates and their parents attended the game Saturday. She is the daughter of Robin and Teresa Wright, of Columbia City. The CCHS Lady Eagles’ record is 8-2.
