COLUMBIA CITY – Students in Whitley County went back to school this week. For some it was the start of another school year, but for one student the first day marked an important milestone in her life.
Last year, Alissa Jagger, a junior at Eagle Tech Academy, was involved in a horrible car accident with her family on July 17 in West Virginia.
While her mother, Amy, suffered a broken femur and other injuries, Alissa suffered from severe spinal cord injuries that left the budding Columbia City cross country and track star paralyzed from the waist down.
Alissa Jagger’s spirit was not broken. She pushed herself to build her strength. She worked tirelessly in her physical therapy sessions.
