CITY LIGHTS, CITY HEAT: CCHS show choirs finish on a high note

COLUMBIA CITY ­­— The Sounds of the City went on the road March 17 for the last competition of the year. The show choirs traveled to southern Indiana to Southwestern High School in Hanover for the 14th annual Ohio Valley Showcase. City Lights was the first group to perform for the day.They performed with one of their best, if not the best, performance of the year. Lights ended the competition in fourth place, but the three choirs ahead of them are probably three of the best women’s groups in the nation. Cassidy Richison was recognized by the judges as the outstanding performer for Lights. City Lights finished the year with three Grand Championship trophies in seven competitions. They finished as the runner-up in another competition. These young ladies completed one of the best years in recent memory for City Lights.City Heat competed a short time later in the varsity (small school) mixed division.Heat also performed one of its best shows of the year. Heat finished in second place in the varsity division. Alison Yoder was voted as the outstanding performer for City Heat this week. Hannah Schaefer finished second overall in the solo competition. For those who want to see these young people, there will be two chances to do so in the coming weeks. The first chance will be April 28 at CCHS when the show choirs will participate with local barbershop groups for a concert.This will be a night for all ages.
