FOOTBALL PREVIEW: Columbia City faces another hot opponent

COLUMBIA CITY— After three straight weeks of playing a ranked football team, Columbia City gets a reprieve.But not much of one. The Norwell Knights are currently unranked in Class 4A, but are red-hot, having won their last three games in a row.Those three wins came against East Noble, DeKalb and Homestead.While Columbia City lost to East Noble and Homestead this year, the Eagles also beat Bellmont, who defeated Norwell.This match-up between the 3-5 Eagles and 3-5 Knights will be even more interesting, though, as it is a sectional preview.One week after playing each other this Friday in Columbia City, the two teams will square off in Ossian for a Class 4A sectional quarterfinal match-up.The Eagles have owned the rivalry in recent seasons. The last Knight victory came in 2009, when Norwell went 8-1 in the regular season and grabbed a share of the Northeast Hoosier Conference title.Last year’s result was decidedly in favor of Columbia City, to the tune of 26-6.
