Frances E. Stangland, 96, of Albion, died Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 2:20 p.m. in her residence.She was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Noble County to Marshall and Frances (Stout) Young.On Nov. 15, 1935, in Wolf Lake, she married Omar Stangland. He preceded her in death Aug. 31, 1997.Mrs. Stangland, a lifetime area resident, graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1932. She was a teacher’s aide and worked in the cafeteria at Wolf Lake School.She and her husband moved to the Stangland Family Farm March 13, 1936. For many years, they wintered in Bradenton, Fla.She was a longtime member of the Burr Oak Baptist Church in Burr Oak.The family wishes to thank in-home caregiver, Frances Jane Gaff and also Parkview Whitley Hospice. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Louise Stangland of Albion; two grandchildren, Erik and Rachel Stangland of Brownstown and Kristin and Jeff Mains of Columbia City; two great granddaughters, Elisabeth Esther Mains and Katherine Avigail Mains; a great-grandson, David “Bradley” Mains; and a brother-in-law, William “Billy” Clouse of Albion.She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Roettger and Jayne Clouse; and three brothers, Glenn Young, Max Young, and Walter “Goss” Young.Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Merriam Christian Chapel with Danny Stangland, Dr. Mark Soto, Pastor Terry Zolman, and Pastor Steve Pulley officiating. Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery in Merriam.Calling is Monday from 10 a.m. to noon in the church.Preferred memorials are to Gideon’s International or Parkview Whitley Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church.
