HEALTHY HABITS: Learn about Alzheimer’s and dementia from Alzheimer’s Association volunteers Feb. 2

Staff Writer

Everyone with a brain is at risk for Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Over the next 10 years, the number of Hoosiers affected with brain diseases is expected to grow by at least 18 percent. Nationwide, every 67 seconds someone develops Alzheimer’s. Sobering statistics for sure.
While brain diseases cannot be prevented or cured, the good news is that steps can be taken to potentially mitigate the risk factors associated with the development of brain diseases.
Volunteers from the Alzheimer’s Association will be at South Whitley Community Public Library at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2 for a program called “Healthy Habits for a Healthy You.”
The program will offer information and tips designed to help people develop habits that lead to a healthier lifestyle and possibly reduce the risk brain diseases.
