Ivy Tech Northeast to host European Competition

Staff Writer

A European Competition presented through Ivy Tech Community College’s Hospitality Administration program will take place Friday, Jan. 8. Students who choose to participate can do so in one of three categories: culinary, baking, or event management.
Culinary students will be given a mystery basket of ingredients to create a pre-determined menu. Baking students create an assortment of pre-determined baked goods, including filling an order for a decorated cake. Event management students schedule a large-scale event, including details about food, location, décor, speaker(s) and more. All three categories have a time-limit.
The winners, selected by College and industry experts, will travel to Europe in the spring to study baking and culinary arts. Based on their experiences on the trip, they will be responsible for creating the menu for 2016’s Reason to Taste fundraiser, which raised more than $100,000 last year.
The event will take place in Ivy Tech Northeast's hospitality administration kitchens at the Coliseum Campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne.
The schedule for the day:

•8 a.m. - Culinary competition begins
