ROTARY NEWS: Agribusiness gains a platform

COLUMBIA CITY — Tom Warner, Agronomy manager at Ag Plus in South Whitley, recently spoke at a Columbia City Rotary Club meeting.Warner is from South Whitley and grew up in the farming community. “We rarely get programs on Agriculture and our speaker is the perfect answer for correcting that,” said Rotarian Jacie Worrick, when introducing Warner. “Now that crops are in the ground, things have slowed down a bit,” said Warner. “I have a little more freedom to get out and talk to groups like Rotary.”Ag Plus started in 2001 as a result of two related companies, the Allen County Cooperative and the Farmers Elevator, joining together.Their mission statement reads, “We are a customer driven and profitable cooperative that is committed to providing our patrons with premium value through our products and services.” The company has eight locations and last year had $148 million in sales. There are 84 full-time employees, and 14 part-time. Ag Plus provides services to farmers in Agronomy, feed, grain petroleum and supply.
