SUPERINTENDANT: 2013-14 year off to a good start at WCCS

COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County Consolidated Schools Superintendent Pat O’Connor praised all of the WCCS staff for working hard for a smooth to start the 2013-14 school year.At Tuesday’s WCCS work session, O’Connor told the Board of Trustees that all of the staff, from janitors to bus drivers, was diligent over the summer months to get the school year off to a good start.“The custodial staff did a great job getting the schools in shape,” O’Connor said.Custodians conducted deep cleaning of the schools, as well as painting and landscaping to spruce up the buildings.“The schools were all ready for the kids to come,” O’Connor said.Along with making the schools look spic-and-span, staff also worked to provide a safer atmosphere for students.“The day before students arrived, each principal met with their staff and reviewed the school’s safety plans,” O’Connor said. “We wanted to highlight that some of the most important things for our students are safety and security.”She also touted the hard work of the transportation department.To read the rest of this story, see the Sept. 4 issue of The Post and Mail.
