WEEKEND EVENT: Archaeological weekend and exhibit unveiling at Whitley County Historical Museum

Whitley County Historical Museum will be hosting “ Weaving Many Threads – meesaanaapiikohkiiyankwi" with George Strack, Tribal Historic Preservation Officer of The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma’s Fort Wayne Cultural Resource Extension Office, as part of the Statewide Indiana Archaeology Month activities Friday, Sept. 18 at 6:00 p.m.
Gregory Woodham will be giving a presentation,“James Otto Lewis and his Aboriginal Portfolio,” followed by the J.O. Lewis Portrait Exhibit unveiling Saturday, Sept 19 beginning at 6 p.m. And at 6:30 p.m., George Ironstrack, Assistant Director of the Myaamia Center at Miami University, will be presenting “We want to live like Neighbors” – The Miami Tribe and the Treaty of 1826.
In celebration of Indiana Archaeology Month, archaeology expert David Ramp will be identifying stone artifacts Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m.
Admission to these programs is free.
