First Fridays 2023 series kicks off
It was beautiful weather - perfect conditions to welcome the start of the 2023 First Fridays event series in downtown Columbia City, which took place May 5. Theme for the first event was "Dog Days," and families brought their own pets to enjoy the festivities. The event featured an adoption fair by the Whitley County Humane Society. Attendees touched base with various local businesses and organizations, while enjoying stopping by the downtown businesses, trying different foods provided by food trucks and listening to music.

Hannah Johnson and Katy Southern, with Peabody Public Library, welcomed attendees to the booth. They passed out seeds and information on the library’s seed library. It allows residents, whether they have a card or not, take seeds for various vegetables and herbs, and also donate seeds to share with others.
